RunGap is designed with a local-first architecture: your workout, activity, and health data stay on your iOS device unless you explicitly choose to share them. This Privacy Policy explains how RunGap collects, uses, protects, and shares information received from connected services.
Data Collection
RunGap stores all workout, activity, health, and related data received from connected services exclusively on your iOS device.
All data imported into RunGap is stored in RunGap's local database within the iOS application sandbox. This database is isolated by the operating system and cannot be accessed by other apps installed on your iOS device.
RunGap does not upload, store, or retain copies of this data outside your iOS device unless you explicitly request it. Data is transferred only to a connected service, cloud storage service, or other destination that you choose, such as when you request synchronisation, export, backup, or file sharing.
RunGap accesses connected services only with your explicit permission.
The term "connected services" refers to the third-party services that you choose to connect to RunGap, including Apple Health, Google Health, Strava, Suunto, and other supported services. A complete list of supported services is available at:
https://rungap.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/25622936522130-Supported-Services
Use of Data from Connected Services
RunGap accesses data from connected services only to provide the functionality you request. This includes:
- importing data from connected services into RunGap;
- displaying, processing, analysing, and managing your data within RunGap;
- exporting or synchronising your data to connected services that you choose to use.
Data received from connected services is used solely to provide these features. It is not used for advertising, marketing, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the functionality you have requested.
Data Sharing
RunGap does not sell your personal information or data received from connected services.
Data is transferred only to a connected service, cloud storage service, or other destination that you explicitly choose.
RunGap does not disclose data received from connected services to advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties for their own independent use.
Once data has been transferred at your request, it is handled in accordance with the privacy policy and terms of use of the receiving service.
Data Protection
RunGap protects your data using the following security measures:
- All data received from connected services is stored exclusively in RunGap's local database on your iOS device.
- The local database resides within the iOS application sandbox and cannot be accessed by other iOS apps.
- Communications with connected services use encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections.
- Authentication credentials and access tokens are stored exclusively using Apple's Keychain services.
- Data leaves your iOS device only when you explicitly request synchronisation, export, backup, file sharing, or another transfer.
Analytics
RunGap uses Matomo, a privacy-focused analytics platform hosted securely in the European Union on a dedicated and isolated server, to collect anonymous usage analytics.
IP addresses are anonymised by masking the last two bytes before storage.
Usage analytics do not include data received from connected services and are used solely to understand how RunGap is used, identify issues, and improve the app.
Artificial Intelligence
Data received from connected services is not used to develop, improve, or train general-purpose artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Your Data, Your Control
You remain in control of your data.
You may revoke RunGap's permission to access any connected service using the settings provided by that service or within your iOS device's privacy settings where applicable. You may also delete your local data using RunGap's data management features or by removing RunGap from your iOS device.
Notification of Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to RunGap, connected services, or applicable legal requirements.
When this Privacy Policy is updated, a notification will be shown in RunGap. The updated Privacy Policy will also be available within the app and on the RunGap support website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when the most recent changes were made.
